Fishing Seasons – Timing Your Fishing Trip
BONEFISH: Bonefishing is good year-round in Andros, peak time to fish for quality Bonefish is Nov. thru June. During the winter months smaller schools of larger fish are on the flats, 10+ Lbs bones are more often found in single or double. In Spring, there are greater chances to catch quantity and quality fish. The warmer months you will find very large schools in average of 3-5 Lbs size.
TARPON: Starting April Tarpon begin to show up on the flats. They are consistent from May through October. Occasionally you will find them in the deeper creeks during the cooler months.
Permit: Late April, May through October they are on the Westside and North Joulters consistently.
Mutton Snapper: Fly fishing for Mutton Snapper around April through August on the flats. They are incredibly strong and absolutely beautiful. Pound for pound they are as much fun as bonefish. They can be found in mangrove creeks and around the reef. They are a blast to catch with top-water lures.
Barracuda: Plentiful everywhere anytime of the year. Most under-rated tackle busters, they are fast and ferocious. 3-footers are commonly found on the flats. 4-footers are not uncommon in deeper waters. Make sure you bring wire-leaders.
Groupers: We can fish for all kinds of Groupers on the reef year-round. Peak time is during the warmer months.
